Gunmen storm Atchafalaya restaurant, rob customers and employees
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Two gunmen stormed Atchafalaya Thursday night, robbing customers and employees inside.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. Thursday at the restaurant in the 900 block of Louisiana Ave.
The restaurant manager said he saw two men approach the store wearing Velcro masks and dark hooded sweatshirts. The manager quickly locked the restaurant, believing they intended to rob the restaurant.
Officers say the suspects kicked and shoved the door until it opened.
The gunmen stormed the store, demanding property from employees and customers inside. Police said the suspects then took cash from the register.
The gunmen fled on foot toward Laurel Street.
Thursday's robbery echoes a similar incident on August 20. Three gunmen stormed Patois Restaurant, located in the 6000 block of Laurel Street. The gunmen ordered the customers to the floor and stole wallets, phones and purses from customers.
No arrests have been made in either case.
