KENNER, LA (WVUE) - Among the country's small cities, a popular website ranks Kenner as the 10th most ethnically and racially diverse.
The website WalletHub.com looked at Census Bureau statistics for cities with a population under 100,000. It looked at three categories: racial and ethnic diversity, language diversity and U.S. region of birth diversity.
Kenner says no other Louisiana city made the top 10 list in either small, midsize or large city category.
"Diversity is something we are very proud of in Kenner," Kenner Mayor Michael Yenni said. "We know that more than 1 out of 5 residents are Hispanic and you only have to drive down Williams Boulevard to see the many different ethnic restaurants and other businesses."
According to WalletHub.com, ethnic change has been ongoing for years and will continue. "By its estimates, the U.S. Census Bureau projects that no single ethnic group will comprise the majority in the U.S. for the first time in 2044."
