Man sought in Bayou St. John home invasion, sex assault

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The NOPD is asking for the public's help in identifying and locating an unknown male who robbed and sexually assaulted a 28-year old woman in the Bayou St. John neighborhood.

The incident occurred Sept. 23 in the 800 block of North Lopez Street. Around 7 a.m., the suspect entered the victim's home armed with a gun and demanded her property. The victim complied. The suspect then sexually assaulted the woman and fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s or 30s, 6'0" tall and about 185 pounds with a slim build and a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, light-colored jacket, grey shorts and tennis shoes.

The suspect was captured on video surveillance at a local ATM as he tried to use the victim's stolen credit card.
