Woman sought in Lakeview jewelry theft

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The NOPD is asking for the public's help in locating a woman sought in connection with the theft of a $16,000 wedding ring set.

The suspect is 44-year-old Tricia Smith Sauvinet, who also goes by Tricia Caminita.  The incident was reported on June 10 in the 300 block of 22nd Street.

Police said in early May, the victim took off her wedding rings while inside her home and put them in a metal container in her bathroom. When she went to get them, she discovered they were missing.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the victim's friend, Sauvinet, stole the rings and pawned them, according to an NOPD news release. Detectives then obtained a warrant for her arrest.

Third District Detectives are investigating the incident and can be contacted at (504) 658-6030.
