(WVUE, AP) - A former employee at the London Zoo must pay $1,200 compensation to one of her former coworkers, after attacking her with a wine glass.

According to court documents, meerkat expert Caroline Westlake assaulted monkey handler Kate Sanders, during a dispute over Adam Davies, the zoo's llama-keeper, who had dated both women.

The incident happened during a zoo Christmas party on Dec. 8. Westlake claimed Sanders punched her first, and didn't remember attacking her with a wine glass.

Sanders sustained facial in the attack.

Judge Jeremy Colman sentenced Westlake to 12 months of community service for the assault.

The zoo fired Westlake after the incident.
