(WVUE) - Police are on the scene of a collision between an 18-wheeler and an Amtrak train south of Ponchatoula. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation.
The crash happened 1 mile south of city limits on old Highway 51 in an area bordering the Manchac swamp, according to Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson. There are no fatalities, and some minor to moderate injuries to train passengers. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt.
Layrisson said there are no crossing arms at the location.
