HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - Two workers at a fried chicken restaurant were injured during an armed robbery in Houma. The hold-up began around 7 pm Thursday night at the Sunrise Fried Chicken on West Park Avenue. Sheriff Jerry Larpenter say two men, both wearing hoodies and masks entered the restaurant and demanded money.
During the attempted robbery, a female worker was struck in the head with a handgun by one of the thieves. Another employee. a male co-worker came to her rescue and tried to intervene with a knife. That's when the gunman then repeatedly struck the male employee on the head with his gun. Both suspects then ran out of the restaurant without getting any money. . .
Investigators describe the robbers as having a slim to medium build, both approximately 6'00" to 6'03" in height.
The female worker's injuries did not require medical attention; however, the male employee was treated at a local hospital for head injuries. The injuries were moderate and not considered life threatening.
