FOX 8 Defenders: Sheriff's Office reports more furniture store complaints
CHALMETTE, LA (WVUE)
We've learned that more consumers file complaints with law enforcement over problems with a local furniture store in response to our ongoing FOX 8 Defenders investigation, Furniture Store Fallout.
The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office reports that three consumers have filed complaints against Hamilton Enterprises in Chalmette. The sheriff's office says in addition, it's received nine complaints from a St. Bernard Parish Justice of the Peace. In all, its detectives will look into a dozen complaints filed against Hamilton.
The FOX 8 Defenders have heard from several area families in a series of reports who say they've waited too long for furniture that they've either paid for in full up front or financed.
In one case, a customer has waited 21 months for her entire order. Since our reports, a Hamilton Enterprises owner says the company tried to deliver an order to one consumer last week, but she refused to receive it. That customer paid in full for furniture in February.
