Updated movie theater coming to LaPlace

LAPLACE, LA (WVUE) - Moviegoers in St. John Parish will soon have an updated theater to catch their favorite flicks.  Parish President Natalie Robottom  says the Hollywood 7 Movie Theatre is about to undergo renovations that include newly installed stadium seating and upgrades to the lobby and restrooms.  The theater, located in the Riverlands Shopping Center is also being reconfigured from several small auditoriums into larger auditorium.  The new theater, which is scheduled to open in March of 2016 will include five screens.

Doug and Cathy Collins, owners of Acadiana Cinemas says the new theater will more spacious seating, featuring oversized VIP-style lounge chairs and/or recliners.  A new ticketing system will also be installed to allow for online ticket purchases, gift cards and credit cards. . "Substantially everything that the customer touches will be brand new, said Doug Collins. "When complete, the movie-going experience in LaPlace will be new and exciting, giving the area a convenient and unique experience," Cathy Collins added.

Acadiana Cinemas, based in Lafayette, currently operates four movie theatres. All are older theatres that in recent years have undergone substantial renovations and upgrades, similar to those planned for LaPlace.
