NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - NOPD and Louisiana State police are a scene where a driver that led state police on a chase on interstate and surface streets early Wednesday morning in New Orleans.
Around 5:30 a.m., state police were involved in a chase. The driver of the car fled the vehicle and shots were fired.
At this time, investigators believe no one was struck by gunfire, according to a statement on the incident released by NOPD.
Police are continuing their search for the suspect in the area.
New Orleans police set up a perimeter along Franklin Avenue from Clover Street to Gladiolus Street in Gentilly.
The NOPD is working with the Louisiana State Police at the scene. There are numerous cars and officers on the scene and in the area.
Police say they are still searching for a suspect in the area.
It is unclear why Louisiana State police were chasing the driver.
