NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A child was brought to a west bank grocery store Tuesday night after being shot at an Algiers home, according to police.
Officers responded at about 8:30 p.m. to the Winn Dixie in the 3000 block of Holiday Drive. The 3-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach. There was no word on his condition.
"Preliminary information indicates that a male was cleaning his firearm when the gun discharged, striking the 3-year-old male," according to an NOPD news release.
Police have one person in custody and were interviewing people at a home in the 300 block of Huntlee Drive.
