(WVUE) - A dense fog advisory is in effect through 9 a.m. this Monday morning. Visibility is down to one-quarter mile in some areas.
Restrictions are in place on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway. Only the right lane is open on the northbound span, while convoys have started southbound. The speed limit is 45 mph in both directions.
Once the fog clears around mid-morning, southerly winds will continue to push warm, moist air into the area. Temperatures will rise into the upper 70s as a result, and cloudy skies will linger all day.
A few light sprinkles will be possible today and tonight, but the better chance for rain arrives Tuesday afternoon.
There will be a chance for strong to severe storms late in the day Tuesday as a cold front moves through the area. Strong winds and an isolated tornado or two will be the main threats with this line of storms.
By Wednesday, we'll start to turn much colder.
