Amtrak announces transportation changes due to railroad bridge fire

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Saturday's railroad bridge fire in St. Charles Parish has prompted changes for some Amtrak train passengers traveling to and from New Orleans. Crews spent several hours, Saturday, working to extinguish the fire which burned the bridge located near the Bonnet Carre' Spillway.
Amtrak officials released a statement Sunday night stating that passengers on the Amtrak City of New Orleans Trains 58 and 59, which travel between Chicago and New Orleans, will have alternate transportation provided to them between Jackson, Ms. and New Orleans.
Officials say that passengers that are affected will be directly contacted.
