BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) - Alex Lange was a dominant force his freshman year at LSU, in year two it's the same story. Lange struck out nine batters, giving up one hit, helping the Tigers shut out Cincinnati 4-0.
The Tigers took the lead in the bottom half of the first inning as centerfielder Jake Fraley tripled to right field and later scored after a wild pitch from Bearcat starter Mitch Patishall.
LSU added to its lead in the second when first baseman Greg Deichmann homered to right field for his first collegiate hit to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
With Lange on the mound, only one run was needed on this day. Lange's career record is now 13-0.
LSU finishes their series with Cincinnati at noon Sunday at Alex Box Stadium.
