Jefferson man arrested for stealing liquor from Kenner businesses
KENNER, LA (WVUE) - A Jefferson man wanted for stealing liquor from two businesses in Kenner has been arrested. Jonathan Quiqley, 23, was taken into custody on Saturday.
According to police, Quigley walked into a Kenner pharmacy located in the 2200 block of Williams Blvd. on Christmas Day. He grabbed a bottle of liquor and hit it in his clothes. As he tried to leave the store without paying for the alcohol, he was confronted by the store manager. When asked to return the property, Quigley indicated to the manager that he was armed. Fearing that Quigley was armed, the manager backed off and Quigley fled.
Police also learned that Quigley was responsible for a theft that occurred at another Kenner business. Police say that in that incident, which occurred on Oct. 8, 2015 in the 800 block of West Esplanade Avenue, Quigley concealed a bottle of liquor and ran from the store without paying.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Deputies arrested Quigley at his home in the 700 block of Parkway Avenue in Jefferson on narcotics charges. According to police, while being questioned by a Kenner detective, Quigley confessed to both thefts, but said he couldn't remember if he implied that he was armed during the Christmas Day incident.
Quigley remains in police custody and a bond has not yet been set.
