LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A two-vehicle crash took the life of an unrestrained driver around 7:30 a.m. Thursday in Lafourche Parish.
State Police say the crash happened on LA 308 near East 7th Street.
Troopers say 30-year-old Many Dardar of Bourg was traveling north on LA 308 in a 2002 ford Taurus near the Larose overpass. Investigators say for unknown reasons, Dardar swerved into oncoming traffic and was hit by a 2013 GMC Yukon.
The driver of the Yukon sustained minor injuries in the crash. Dardar was not restrained and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner's Office. The driver of the Yukon submitted to a breath alcohol test and was cleared of any alcohol involvement.
Police say while not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belt can greatly decrease an occupant's chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires vehicle occupants to be properly restrained at all times.
