NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Saturday was a banner day for Gayle and Tom Benson's GMB Racing on their road to the Kentucky Derby.

Tom's Ready finished second in the Louisiana Derby, gaining him 40 Kentucky Derby points. His total of 44 overall lands him ninth in the Derby standings.

GMB's other thoroughbred Mo Tom finished a not so stellar fourth in the race, but the finish still gained 10 Kentucky derby points. Mo Tom's haul of 32 overall points puts him in 11th in the Derby standings.

There's still six races left in the next two weeks that could shuffle the standings, but at this point both horses should have enough to qualify in the top 20 spots of "The Run for the Roses."

In the 2015 Kentucky Derby standings the 20th spot was held down with 30 points. With injuries to the field, Keen Ice got in with 22 points in 2015.

Both of GMB's horses will ship this week to Churchill Downs, which host the Kentucky Derby.
