Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's deputy faces corruption charges
TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Deputy Darryl Stewart faces federal corruption charges.
In a bill of information, federal prosecutors charged Stewart, the head of the narcotics division, with one count of theft of government funds.
Sources tell FOX 8 Stewart has likely struck a plea deal. Those same sources say Stewart has already resigned from the sheriff's office.
In November of 2015, a Lee Zurik investigation showed Stewart and Captain Dawn Foret were under investigation by the FBI for allegedly getting paid for private detail work and work through the sheriff's office at the same time. Sources tell FOX 8, the investigation into Foret is ongoing.
