A Houma woman was arrested after a drug dog found narcotics in her car while she was visiting a prison inmate.
When Cherith B. Sheppard, 27, of Raymond Street in Houma, arrived at the Rayburn Correctional Center for the visit, a prison dog on a routine check of visiting vehicles stopped on Sheppard's car.
Prison staff searched the car and found a small amount of marijuana and 90 pills.
Sheppard was taken into custody by the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office and taken to the parish jail.
There she was charged with Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution and Possession of Schedule IV drugs.
She posted a $3,500 bond and was released the next day.
