NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A fast food worker is shot and killed Thursday night right in front of the restaurant where he worked and now the search is on for those responsible.
The shooting happened in the 4000 block of chef Menteur Highway.
The New Orleans Police Department is working to find out who gunned down the 29-year-old man just after 11:30 p.m. in front of Church's Chicken.
Those who work nearby say the victim was a cook at the restaurant who had just wrapped up his shift. They say he was walking to his car when gunmen ambushed him.
Police say the victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene. Police have not released any information about suspects and right now the motive remains unclear. Some people in the area of the shooting say they don't feel safe at night.
"Quite honestly, if somebody's around in the lot when I'm getting ready to come in, I don't get out of my car. I don't even get out of my car to get in the side of the building," a person said.
Managers at the Church's restaurant had no comment. If you have any information, you are urged to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
