NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A four-alarm fire in the Bywater displaced at least four people and injured a firefighter. New Orleans Fire Chief Tim McConnell says the firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was rushed to the hospital.
Residents reported seeing flames coming from a home in the 900 block of Montegut St. around 2 a.m. Wednesday. Chief McConnell says the fire started in a shed and spread to a home.
First responders worked for more than five hours until trucks started to leave the scene. The fire is under control.
This is the fourth fire in about a week in Orleans Parish. The Fire chief believes this one started in garage and then spread to a house.
Authorities from the state fire marshal's office are trying to figure out how the fire started.
