JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Sheriff Newell Normand has announced details of an arrest warrant issued Thursday for a robbery suspect investigators identify as Charles Mims of Westwood Drive in Marrero.

Deputies said they responded to a report of a robbery at the Belmont Apartments on Carolwood Village Drive in Terrytown. The victim, a 48-year-old female who lives at that location, called 911 Wednesday to report that she had been robbed of her cell phone. The victim told investigators she saw two people arguing in the parking lot of the complex. As the victim was trying to call 911 to report the incident, one of the suspects grabbed her cell phone and fled.

JPSO Robbery Detective Joseph Waguespack conducted a follow-up investigation and was able to identify Charles Mims as the suspect.

Authorities said numerous attempts to locate and arrest Mims have been unsuccessful.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mims is asked to contact Detective Waguespack at 504-364-5300 or the Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
