NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police are asking the public for help in identifying a suspect in a Constance Street armed robbery and aggravated assault.

The incident occurred last Friday (June 17) in the 2700 block of Constance Street.

The victim told police that a suspect, described as a black male, grabbed her from behind while she was unloading groceries from her car.

She told police he put a gun to her neck and demanded her keys. She began screaming and pushed the gun aside. The suspect then grabbed the key fob, pushed the victim to the ground and attempted to flee in her car.

A neighbor then arrived asked the victim if she was okay. The suspect, who had been unable to start the car, got out of the vehicle and pointed the gun at the second victim and told her to leave.

He got back in the car and tried again to start it, but was unsuccessful. He then got out of the car and fled the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 27-28 years old, five-feet-ten-inches tall and weighing around 170 pounds.

He has a thin build, dark complexion and his hair was about six inches long and possibly in a twist hairstyle.

He was wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, black hat, white high-top shoes with lime green circles, and carrying a black backpack with an orange strap.

Anyone with information on identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to contact any Sixth District detective at 658-6060.
