NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Former Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office Detective Dawn Foret, 38, of Houma was charged Friday in a one count Bill of Information for theft of government funds, according to U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite.

Prosecutors allege Foret stole at least $1,000 of federal funds from November 2010 through July 2012.

Records from an internal affair investigation suggest Foret claimed to be in two places at one time, and got paid for both.

If convicted, Foret could face 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, followed by three years of supervised release.
