ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A former Fontainebleau High School math teacher, who was also the assistant girls' basketball coach, has been arrested and is facing numerous charges for having sexual relations with one of his students, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.

In late June, the sheriff's office received an anonymous complaint from a concerned adult that 37-year-old William Leto was allegedly having inappropriate sexual relations with a female student.

Detectives began an investigation and determined that the complaints were legitimate.

The investigation led detectives to discover that Leto initially made inappropriate contact through social media, where he began "grooming" her. Grooming is a method used by child pedophiles to slowly convince their victims to trust them. An interview was conducted with the underage victim who disclosed that she and Leto had sexual contact on multiple occasions.

Leto is being charged with four counts of Molestations of a Juvenile by an Educator and one count of Computer Aided Solicitation of a Juvenile. Police say as the investigation continues, Leto could face additional charges.
