NOPD searching for a robbery suspect

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police are seeking the public's help in finding a suspect in a Sunday night robbery.

The incident occurred in the 5100 block of St. Claude Avenue.

Around 1:20 a.m., a woman was coming out of a business when she was approached by a suspect described as a black male.

The victim told police she was walking to her car when the suspect snatched her purse. The suspect then fled on foot.

Detectives identified Woodrow "Woody" Smith as the suspect.

Smith is known to frequent the Fifth District specifically along the intersections of Saint Claude Avenue and Lizardi Street.
