Deputies arrest 2 teens in connection with graduation party shooting

LAPLACE, LA (WVUE) - St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's deputies arrest two teenagers in connection with a shooting at a graduation party. But Sheriff Mike Tregre says they're still looking for two other suspects.

Two women and a 15-year-old girl were shot at the party. It happened at the VFW Hall on West Fifth Street in LaPlace around 11:30 Saturday night.

Now, Ronte Murray and Kendrick Jones Jr., both 18, have been arrested in connection with the case. Murray was booked with attempted second-degree murder. Jones was booked with illegal use of a weapon. The sheriff says Murray was at the party that night.

Tregre says four guns were used during the shooting, including an AK-47. He says that suggests there were four different shooters. He's now asking any witnesses who may have been at the graduation party to come forward to help investigators identify the other suspects.

"We need additional help from anyone who was there because we know there was a number of witnesses that observed the incident and probably could easily help us identify the shooters," said Tregre. "Apparently, I have two groups of young men that were firing at each other and they missed their intended targets, where three young ladies sustained gun shot wounds and bullets did go into two separate homes across the street from the VFW."

We're told all three victims are in stable condition.
