NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans police are searching for a man wanted for separate shooting and home invasion incidents. The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Horace Toppins. The first incident occurred Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
Police say that in that incident, Toppins was giving the victim a ride home after after they spent the night together. While they were in the car, the victim tried to end her relationship with Toppins. The victim told police that Toppins pulled out a gun and shot her in the elbow. The victim then convinced Toppins to drive her to the hospital.
According to police, the second incident occurred Monday. Police say that Toppins went to the 8500 block of Chef Menteur Highway, looking for the victim and forced his way into an apartment where the victim was staying with family. After making threats to harm everyone in the apartment, he fled after realizing that the victim was not there. The victim then notified police about both incidents.
Horace Toppins is considered armed and dangerous, and is known to resist law enforcement, police say.
