SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) - Delgado Community College's campus on the North Shore will close its doors at the end of the fall semester.

Louisiana's Community and Technical Colleges confirmed Thursday that Delgado's Slidell staff will assist students' transition to Northshore Technical Community College or Nunez Community College, starting immediately.

Northshore Technical and Nunez are accredited colleges.

State leaders say all of the courses offered at Delgado's North Shore campus will be offered at the other colleges. Students are urged to talk with advisers if they want to transfer to the two colleges offered or another university.

The Slidell campus will remain open for all fall 2016 classes.

Northshore Technical Community College's new campus in Lacombe will open for classes in January 2017 and will be the college's new main campus.

A spokesperson with Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges said the decision to close Delgado's Slidell campus was a financial decision spurred by  recent funding cuts.

"Starting immediately, students will have the opportunity to work with advisors for the best fit of program pathways and locations," the North Shore campus' website states. "By the end of September, students will have a complete plan for their best fit for program pathways and campus locations."
