Militia member accused of drug trafficking

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The FBI and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a man connected to a Louisiana militia group for allegedly trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine.

James Moore, 46, was arrested in Mandeville and booked with distribution of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Moore is a ranking member of the Louisiana Tactical Militia, according to the FBI.

In addition to allegedly selling drugs, he claimed to have access to a surplus of over 80 firearms as well as a stockpile of food and provisions to maintain his militia for a 60-day period.

Moore was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
