NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A man believed to be the son of St. Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlmann was found dead of a suspected drug overdose Monday in the Upper Ninth Ward, according to a source.

Police said a man was found slumped over in a car in the 2500 block of Piety Street. Officers found a syringe in his possession and EMS pronounced him dead at the scene. A source said the man was Justin Pohlmann.

In 2013, Sheriff Pohlmann released a statement about his son's substance abuse problem after Justin was arrested for burglary and misdemeanor theft, saying, in part, "Like all too many parents, I have a child who has gotten into trouble with the law. My son, Justin, has a substance abuse problem which has returned…"

Justin Pohlmann was 31 years old.
