Magazine Street robbery suspect nabbed quickly after victim ID

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A man accused robbing a woman on Magazine Street Monday night was caught quickly after the robbery occurred.

According to police reports, shortly after 9 p.m., the victim told police a man she knew confronted her and demanded she give him money to buy drugs.

The victim refused and the suspect, identified as Rashad Brown, 29, pushed her to the ground.

The victim bit Brown on his arm during a scuffle for the money.

Brown took the victim's cash and cellphone and fled the area.

The victim reported the incident and gave the police Brown's description.

Shortly after 10 p.m., a person matching Brown's description was spotted by police walking near the intersection of Calliope and St. Charles.

The man appeared to be covered in blood. He was stopped and a bite mark was observed on his upper right arm.

The victim was brought to the scene and she identified Brown as the man who robbed her earlier in the evening.

Brown was arrested for simple robbery and booked at central lockup.
