NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office announced Monday that Carmen I. DeSadier has resigned as chief of corrections to spend more time with her family.
DeSadier, who voluntarily resigned on Oct. 18, has served as OPSO's chief of corrections since May 2015 with a brief break in service earlier this year. Before coming to the sheriff's office, DeSadier had retired from the Cook County Department of Corrections after 30 years of service.
The sheriff's office is interviewing candidates to fill the position.
In a separate development, Seandra Buchanan is also leaving her post as director of human resources, the sheriff's office said. She will remain in the position on a part-time basis until a replacement is named.
