NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The NOPD is asking for the public's help in locating a man wanted in connection with five armed robberies, including an attempted armed robbery at Jimmy John's.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives have linked 47-year-old Kenneth Barnes to an attempted armed robbery that occurred Saturday in the 7600 block of Maple Street. Barnes is believed to have entered the sandwich business armed with a box cutter. He then walked behind the counter and demanded money from the employees. The employees fled the location, and police believe Barnes then fled in a white van.
Police said Barnes has also been identified as the suspect in the robberies at the Smoothie King in 200 block of North Carrollton Avenue on March 1; Rite Aid at 1133 South Carrollton on March 2; Maple Street Bookstore at 7529 Maple Street; Rite Aid at 7133 St. Charles Avenue on Sept. 29, and the Shell Gas Station on in the 600 block of S. Carrollton Avenue on Friday.
Barnes also has seven additional warrants for crimes committed throughout the city.
