COVINGTON, LA (WVUE) - Attorneys made final juror selections Wednesday afternoon in the trial of a man who is accused of killing his father and his two-year-old half-sister.
Lawyers and Ad Hoc Judge Bruce Bennett were very deliberate in their selection of jurors to decide the fate of Jacob Middleton, Jr.
Middleton, who was 17 at the time of the murders, sat silently in court for the past three days as attorneys tried to find out if jurors had courthouse connections and understood the concept of reasonable doubt.
He is accused of killing his 35-year-old father Jacob Middleton, Sr., and his two-year-old half-sister, Makayla, back in January of 2014.
His family members are in court showing support for a brother involved in a family tragedy.
"It's very difficult here to support Jacob Jr. He is family and we miss him a lot," said his sister, Lisa Middleton.
The defendant could face life in prison if convicted of the two murders.
