NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Residents in New Orleans should be on the look-out for a man who police say is stealing packages off porches in the city's Second District. One of those thefts was caught on a home surveillance camera in the Carrollton neighborhood.
Police say the suspect was riding a bicycle in the 7700 block of Cohn Street when he noticed several packages on the front porch. The video shows the man walking up the front steps, looking around, then grabbing three packages before riding away.
At approximately 5 p.m. on October 26, 2016, an unknown male was captured on surveillance video as he removed three packages from the front porch of a home in the 7700 block of Cohn Street. He then fled the scene on a bicycle.
Experts say there are steps you can take to prevent packages from being stolen. Often, surveillance cameras can be a hindrance, but obviously, it didn't deter the man in this case. Other options include alerting neighbors, especially those retired to keep an eye out for deliveries. You can also have packages delivered to your workplace. .
