NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - "Orange is the New Black" author PIper Kerman will be the featured speaker at a "Conversation on Criminal Justice Reform" presented by NOLA For Life and Mayor Mitch Landrieu.
The free event will be held Wednesday, November 16 at 6:45 p.m. at the Ashe Cultural Center on Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard.
Kerman wrote the book chronicling her year in prison which was adapted for the hit series of the same name on Netflix.
According to her website, Kernan is a frequent speaker and advocate on behalf of criminal justice reform. She's been called to testify before U.S. Senate committees on prison-related issues.
The event is free and open to the public.
