NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department arrested a man just minutes after he allegedly pushed an elderly woman to the ground and stole her purse.

Police say around 10:20 a.m., the victim and a family member were unloading items from the victim's vehicle when 49-year-old Robert Offray approached the victim, pushed her down, and stole her purse.

When the woman began screaming, nearby construction workers started chasing Offray and were able to apprehend him until officers arrived. Offray was also in possession of the victim's property and other possibly stolen items.

Offray was arrested for simple robbery and booked into Central Lockup.
