NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Trains and Christmas go together.  With the holiday season in mind, one of the Gulf South's largest scale-model railroads opens its doors over the next couple weekends.

The Crescent City Model Railroad Club at 601 N. Lester Avenue in Metairie offers an open house for train enthusiasts and children of all ages.  The layout takes visitors on a 150 mile trip from Mississippi through cypress swamp and industrial areas to the fictional town of Crescent City.

The shows, featuring "miles" of track, takes place from noon - 6 p.m. December 10, 17 & 18.  The club will offer one other show on January 7.   Donations are $5 for adults, $1 for children 6-12.
