NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Houma police arrested a man accused of shooting a convenience store clerk in the face during a robbery.

It was just before midnight on Monday when police say they received a call about a shooting at the Chevron Jubilee in Houma.

A gunman with a puffy-style jacket and a hoodie over his head walked into the store with his gun drawn. After getting money from the victim, the gunman, identified as Jasi Jamize Barabin, 22, proceeded to shoot the 36-year-old clerk in the face before he left.

During the investigation, police developed information that Barabin was the suspect who robbed the Chevron Jubilee and shot the clerk in the face.

Detectives were able to get a search warrant at a residence where Barabin was staying on Roussell Street. Upon executing the warrant, the suspect was located and taken into custody.

Houma Police detectives are still working the investigation interviewing witnesses and obtaining additional evidence.
