WASHINGTON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The Washington Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a home invasion, kidnapping and sexual assault that occurred Friday afternoon southwest of Franklinton.

Detectives took Deonte Miller into custody after a manhunt. Investigators said  Miller posed as a delivery person to get into the rural home. They said he first burglarized the home and then forced the woman to come with him to another location, where he sexually assaulted her.

The woman got away and alerted authorities.

Sheriff Randy Seal said, "This was a dastardly crime committed by Miller. Our detectives will continue to work this crime throughout the weekend.  Our sincere condolences go out to the victims in this matter.  Please keep them in your prayers and please be very cautious about opening your door to anyone you don't know.

They're asking anyone who might have information about Miller or the case to call the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office at 985-839-3434.
