NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The City of New Orleans will dismiss a red light ticket for a Lacombe man we featured Monday, on FOX 8 News at 4 p.m.
Bryan Youmans has a rare form of cancer and contacted FOX 8 for help after he got a red light ticket at a New Orleans intersection that he says he hasn't been at in years.
The ticket included pictures and a video link that captured the violation. When he looked closely, he noticed the car in the video has two doors while his car has four. Both license plates look similar but Youman's says his ends with an 'O' and he believes the driver's plate ends with a 'Q.'
Youman's says he's tried to resolved the mix up over the phone but was having trouble.
"I actually have a rare form of cancer, it's called Carcinoid cancer and I've had to have my right lung removed and I'm still recuperating from that, I'm very sick and to have to go down there and fight this ticket, it's just overwhelming," said Youmans.
We contacted the city about Youman's ticket, they tell us there was a mis-read of the license plate and it will be dismissed. They add drivers can dispute tickets in person or by mail. You can find more information about how to do that here.
