(WVUE) - The Coast Guard responds to a sunken vessel along the Mississippi River near Columbus, Kentucky today.
The Ingram Barge Company, Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection, and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources joined together to create a unified command.
The Unit was alerted to a ship sinking around 3:30 p.m.
The ship was reportedly at near mile marker 940.
The vessel was filled with 17,500 gallons of diesel fuel, 150 gallons of lube oil, and 150 gallons of hydraulic oil.
The SWS Environmental Services is working to prevent or stop any possible leaks.
