NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened on Apricot Street on Sunday afternoon.
Second District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting just after 2 p.m. in the 8600 block of Apricot Street.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to University Medical Center by EMS where he died, according to NOPD.
NOPD says they are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
No further information is currently available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine an official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
