PEARL RIVER, LA (WVUE) - One person died Monday night in a single vehicle crash in the Pearl River area, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Department.

Deputies responded to the scene of a single vehicle crash on Teat Blackwell Road in Pearl River around 9 p.m..

When deputies arrived, they discovered a vehicle that had exited the roadway and struck a tree near the intersection of 16th Section Road, according to a news release issued by the sheriff.

The victim was identified as 36 year-old Terri Crawford.

She was transported by Acadian Ambulance to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, according to the sheriff.

According to the report, Crawford was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of crash.

The sheriff said speed is also believed to have been a factor in the crash.
