Man kidnapped, jumps from car to seek safety

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A man was kidnapped from his home in St. John Parish Tuesday and had to jump out of the vehicle his captors were driving to get to safety.

According to The St. John Parish Sheriff's Department, the man was kidnapped from his home around 1:15 a.m. and held at gunpoint.

The man told deputies that the suspects forced him to drive his car to an unknown location.

The victim said he jumped from the moving vehicle and was able to run and find help.

The suspects fled the area in the victim's car and drove back towards his home.

Deputies were able to get a description of the victim's vehicle and found the suspects.

According to the sheriff, deputies briefly chased the suspects in the Canterbury Subdivision before they abandoned the victim's car and fled on foot.

The incident is believed to be isolated and that the suspects knew the victim.
