NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A recount of the votes for the New Orleans City Council District B seat will take place Monday, a week after the request was put in by Seth Bloom. The results from the Nov. 18 election, showed that Jay Banks defeated Bloom by 131 votes.

Bloom requested an investigation, saying that absentee ballots were tossed out.

Members of the Louisiana Secretary of State's Office along with Clerk of Court Arthur Morrell's staff, the Registrar of Voters and the Orleans Parish Board of Election Commissioners, chaired by Jay Batt, will be on hand Monday at 9 a.m. for the recount. A Clerk of Court spokesperson says that the recount is open to the public and will take place at City Council Chambers.

Bloom said that he will concede in the race if the votes are not in his favor following the recount.
