Police: Louisiana fishing show host commits suicide

THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - Thibodaux police are investigating an alleged self-inflicted shooting that claimed the life of a Louisiana fishing show host. The deceased has been identified as 59-year-old Anthony Fontenot of Schriever.

According to Houma Television, Fontenot hosted the fishing program 'Castin' Cajun' and was also featured on the Houma Television show 'Sportsman's Paradise'.

Police say that officers were responding to a call of a shooting in a restroom at a facility in the 600 block of North Acadia Road, Monday at 7:31 a.m.

Officer arrived on scene to find the subject, later identified as Fontenot, fatally shot in one of the public restrooms. Investigators ruled the shooting to be self-inflicted and from a small-caliber weapon.

The investigation into the shooting continues and no foul play is suspected.
