Ingram and Kamara help the Saints get back to their winning ways

(WVUE) - The dynamic duo of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara, both accounted for over 100 yards of total offense in a Saints 31-21 victory over Carolina.

Kamara totaled 126 yards, with two rushing scores. Ingram racked up a 122 yards with a rushing touchdown.

The Saints improved to 9-3 on the season, and now hold a one game lead over the Panthers (8-4) in the NFC South. If the teams tie for the division lead, the Saints would advance with the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Black and Gold beat the Panthers in both matchups this season.

Sean Payton and the Saints rolled the dice early in this contest. Very first drive of the game, the Black and Gold went for it on 4th down from the Panthers 2-yard line. A sweep run around the right corner by Kamara resulted in a 2-yard touchdown run. The rookie out of Tennessee racked up 38 yards total on the drive.

Kamara's other touchdown came in the third quarter on an explosive 20 yard run, doubling the Saints lead to 28-14. After the score, Kamara did a "Fleur-da-leap" into the stands.

The Saints other touchdown drive of the first half was also running back dominated. Ingram broke open for a 72-yard gain, then followed the big gainer with a 3-yard touchdown run.

It wasn't all about the ground game for the Saints. Drew Brees connected with Thomas for a 10-yard touchdown, giving the Black and Gold a 21-7 advantage.

The Panthers also mixed up the pass-run to get points. A 2-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Stewart tied things up at 7-7, a Christian McCaffery 21-yard touchdown reception tightened the game at 21-14, and late in the division battle Devin Funchess hauled in a 22-yard catch, cutting the Saints lead to 31-21
