NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A man who owned a Subway sandwich shop in Gentilly was shot and killed Wednesday night, according to The New Orleans Police Department.
Police say they were called to the 2100 hundred block of Caton Street just after 7 p.m.
People who work near the restaurant said they were shocked to hear the owner was gunned down.
The victim, Adnan Alsar, was described as an incredibly friendly and generous man. He was a married man with three children.
"He was a really nice guy, his dad was nice, he was nice, the people that worked there were nice," said Mary Banks, a resident near the restaurant. "Never had a problem. I can't believe this happened. I'm really shocked."
In response to all the violence in the shopping complex, business owners and employees are begging police to provide additional security there.
